Keeping warm in my new Women's Riding Jacket from Fox Creek Leather
Motorcycle boots are the first line of defense for your feet when riding a motorcycle, but what about the rest of your body? I have been riding for a few years now and when I first started riding, I pretty much didn’t care what I wore for a motorcycle jacket. The leather jacket that I bought when I first got my bike was real leather, but it was of very poor quality and it was pretty thin.

I remember going for a ride late in the year and it started getting cold, I though that I would be fine but that was not the case at all.
Once it started to cool down my Husband who was leading the pack decided to pull over so we all could get our motorcycle jackets and chaps on. That was when I noticed that I had forgotten a sweater or sweatshirt to put on under my motorcycle jacket. That was a mistake that almost caused me not to be able to control my motorcycle.
Once everybody had their gear on we started out again. It was not too bad at first but the later in the afternoon it got, the colder it got. I don’t know exactly how cold it was but I was freezing. The Women’s motorcycle jacket that I had on was not enough to keep me warm. I started to shiver and stiffen up. I was shivering so bad that it became difficult to control my motorcycle and we had to pull over so I could warm up.
After a short time warming up, we decided to find a store so I could buy something to put on under my motorcycle jacket. It was a good thing that there was a Wal-Mart not too far up the road.
I learned a valuable lesson that afternoon, a lesson that I soon rectified. When we got home later that evening after the coldest day of my life, I decided to do a search on the Internet to look for women’s motorcycle apparel. I was not going to go out on another long motorcycle ride with out the proper and safe motorcycle gear again. While I was searching, I came across a company located in the Blew Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia called Fox Creek Leather.
While I was on their webpage, I went to their “About us” page and discovered that they were a family owned business and really great people. The down home kind of people you want to get to know and ride with.
That was all well and good but, did they have good women’s motorcycle apparel? I have always liked the classic motorcycle jacket style but I though I would try something that would accent my body shape. Also the “Riding Jacket” was a heavy 1.2 – 1,4mm thick soft buttery naked leather and it came with a full sleeve Thinsulate® liner. I was thinking warm, and the cost wasn’t bad at all for what you get either.
It only took a few days and my new Riding Jacket arrived. That was a good thing too, because my husband had been bugging me to go for another ride with him. So I opened the box and, what a nice piece of leather. I was very impressed. My new Riding Jacket was even better then I thought it would be. You really can’t tell by an image on a website what the real product will look like on or how heavy it will be. But this was a heavy duty, very well constructed and stitched ladies motorcycle jacket.
I though it would be funny to get my old leather jacket out and compare it to my new “Fox Creek Leather” women’s motorcycle jacket. Oh my! What a difference. My new women’s leather jacket was heavier and the leather was twice as thick, I fell in love with it instantly.
I had to try it, so I put it on and shouted to my husband, “hey lets go”. So we jumped on our bikes and off we went. The weather was chilly but I was toasty warm in my new “Fox Creek Leather Riding Jacket”. It was so nice.
The reason I am telling you all of this is because. I am hoping that you won’t make the same mistake that I did and go out and buy just any old women’s motorcycle jacket. Also, “Fox Creek Leather” has, what I think to be, the very best leather products anywhere. I am completely sold on “Fox Creek Leather” for all of my women’s motorcycle apparel needs.
